WEEK 10...LA

Hi family!!!!
i miss you guys like crazy!! Well well well well so everything is going good!! So where is my first area i got called to serve in??........... yep i am serving in the City of Torrance which is about 15 minutes south of los angeles.. It is a pretty rich area!! We have already knocked doors for 15 hours this week and we only got to teach 6 lessons and only one of the people we taught is a progressing investigator.. but its all good there is a lot of work to do in the this area and i have a good feeling we might be able to get a baptism by the end of this transfer!!

Well my companion is a kid from Mexico, his name is Elder T******** and he is cool i guess.. He is kind of nerdy and on a cool scale from 1 to 10 i would probably give him a 4.. He is obedient and is really quiet, oh well im grateful for him so whatever i guess ha ha..
So the day i got in on the 4th it was a rainy day and right when we got here we went straight from the airport to the Englewood state center and from there we got our trainers and went out tracting.. And the first area i tracted was in Beverly Hills, ha ha. it was terrible i sure hope i never get called to that area.. But yep i tracted in Beverly Hills, pretty funny ehh??  i will always remember that experience!! so yeah after we went tracting in beverly hills we went back to the mission home and from there we sat in the mission home all day. Then in the night i found out we were going to be in Torrance.. Torrance is really nice and so are the wards.  The people are really nice in the wards too.. So on thursday my 2nd day in the field, we were meeting the bishop and the stake president of the wards and what not, and this man walks up to me and says hey whats your name elder and i say my name is elder d**** and he says are you new? and i say yeah. He says great you are speaking in the singles ward this sunday in sacrament. ha ha . So yep you guessed it my first sunday in the field which was yesterday, i had to give a talk in sacrament.  It was super scary but i think i did pretty good ha ha so all went well..
also this week i had the opportunity to give 2 blessings to people at the hospital, one lady was super sick from her asthma so i gave her a blessing and then a another kid had been in a super bad car accident. I had to give him a blessing and that was hard cuz i didn't know what to say cuz the kid was in super bad condition, but i got the feeling that i needed to say he would be fully healed from his injuries in his car accident.. anyways so there are some of my experiences from my first week in Torrance
oh and also during the singles ward in sacrament a man by the name of Rex Pond came up to me and said he went to high school at skyline with you guys and he said that he had a little brother that was really good friends with you dad, i am sure you know him ha ha funny huh, its kind of a small world..
So about me..... well let me just tell you guys that this past week was the biggest emotional rollercoaster of my life, it was for sure the hardest week of my life with out question but i am hoping i can get settled in and start to get used to this idea of being a missionary, well i better get used to this idea of being a missionary cuz this is my life for the next year and 9 and a half months.. missionary work is really hard and i don't think i quite realized what i signed up for,  but i know that this is what i need to be doing and i know that the mission is going to help me out in life so much.. I miss all you guys a ton!! Talking on the phone last week was hard i don't know if i am going to call you guys on mothers day...... ha ha. just kidding i will call you on mothers day for sure!! its just really hard to talk to you guys and then hang up the phone,, Steven and Vic know what i am talking about!! so yeah everything is going good i am a little homesick again but homesickness has never killed anyone.. The mission is super good for me it has a way of getting me out of my comfort zone and making me do stuff that i wouldn't normally do and i am learning a lot from it, i am kind of seeing what i am made of right now and even though its hard its really good..
well how is everything going back home?? I heard the Jazz are straight up kicking butt, whoot whoot!! D will is starting to play good again ehh?? I sure hope that you guys are going to games for me because i am vicariously living through you guys now so please go to games!! ha ha well my P days are on Mondays.. and i hope i answered all your questions, if not just write them in the next email that you are sending me next week and i will do my best to answer them all you can also write me letters and send them to the mission home and i am sure you can find the address to the mission home in my call packet that is at home or you can find it on the internet!! I love you guys!! Pray for me i need it!! - Your amazingly good loooking son Marcus (elder) D****
